This explains what personal information Sootbusters Chimney Sweeping Services ("we", "us") collects through this website, why, and what your rights are.
Who we are
Sootbusters Chimney Sweeping Services, 20 Burnside, Kirkwall, Orkney, KW15 1TF. We are responsible for the information described here. You can contact us using the contact form on this website, or by messaging us on WhatsApp.
What we collect and why
When you send us a message through the contact form, we collect your name, email address, phone number (if you give one) and the message you write. We use this only to reply to your enquiry and to arrange or quote for work. We keep a record of it so we can follow up and don't lose enquiries.
When you tap a WhatsApp button, we record that a tap happened, when, and which button it was. This is anonymous: it does not include your name, phone number, IP address or any identifier. We use it to see how customers prefer to contact us.
If you message us on WhatsApp, we will have whatever you share with us (for example your number and the details of the job), and we use it to deal with your enquiry.
Our reason for using your information
We use it because you asked us to get in touch or give you a quote, and to run our business sensibly (our legitimate interests). We don't use it for marketing, and we don't sell it.
Who else handles it
We use a few services to run the site. They handle information on our behalf and only for these purposes:
- Cloudflare hosts this website, stores form enquiries in its database, and forwards mail sent to our @sootbusters.uk address.
- Web3Forms delivers a copy of your form message to our inbox by email.
- WhatsApp (Meta): if you choose to message us on WhatsApp, that conversation is handled under WhatsApp's own privacy policy.
Some of these providers may process information outside the UK. They are responsible for protecting it to the standard the law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries for as long as we need to deal with them and for a reasonable time afterwards, up to 2 years, and then delete them. Anonymous button-tap records contain no personal information.
Cookies
This site doesn't use cookies for tracking, analytics or advertising. Our hosting provider may use essential technical cookies to keep the site secure and working.
Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can object to how we use it. To do any of these, contact us through the contact form or WhatsApp and we'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
